Top 5 Reasons Why Recitals Are SO Important

Here at Klassik Arts, we believe in the importance of recitals and recommend all of our students to participate in our annual summer and winter recitals. Recitals are a great way for your child to showcase their musical talents and also timestamp their progress as they are growing and evolving in their musical journeys.

Recitals do more than just entertaining family and friends; they actually stimulate musical development and trigger student motivation. Motivation is especially important during these difficult times when most learning is done virtually and where competitions are no longer an option.

Here are TOP 5 reasons why your child should participate in music recitals:

  1. Staying Motivated:

Recitals give students a goal to reach and work for, which keeps students motivated and engaged during their music learning. Especially now with lessons being mostly online, recitals are crucial for students to have a reason to practice harder and stay focused.

  2. Keeping Track of Progress:

Recitals also serve as a record/timeline of your child’s progress during their music educational journey. Through recitals, students and instructors are able to track how far they have come and assess for areas that need extra learning or practice.

  3. Gaining Confidence:

Students who have more experience in participating in recitals tend to have more confidence when performing their musical talents. Although they may not be confident at first and may make mistakes due to nervousness, overcoming that will definitely make a positive change in your child’s attitude towards public performance and will increase their confidence in their music skills.

  4. Family Involvement:

Recitals and public performances provide a setting for families to be a part of their child’s life and be involved in his/her extracurricular activities. This involvement will help in reconnecting with extended relatives and strengthen the bond between your family and child. Recitals are also a great way to create happy memories that your child will remember forever.

  5. Creating a Community:

For a recital, students and faculty will gather in one setting for one purpose; whether it be in-person or online. This generates a sense of wholeness between all students and staff ultimately creates a community including all members. A lot of the time, students do not get to meet other peers as they are only meeting with instructors one-on-one for their music lessons. Through recitals, students will be able to get to know the faces of their musical peers and allow them to feel like they belong to a community, which ultimately leads to greater motivation.
