Happiness Music Brings to the Family

LEARNING PIANO AND ANY OTHER MUSICAL INSTRUMENT HAS MANY BENEFITS TO STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILY

Practicing piano and other musical instruments everyday leads to: 

  1. Strong hand-eye coordination 

  2. Improved memory 

  3. Improved problem solving 

  4. Improved self-esteem and study habits

On top of these benefits, creating music at home creates JOY in family life.

There is indeed a difference between listening to and playing music. Listening is passive and not as interactive, where as playing music is active and collaborative. But the good news is that you do not need to have special skills to participate in music creation. A simple act of clapping along and/or singing along is also a form of collaboration in music making. 

Studies have shown that when we try create music together- such as keeping the beat or singing along- we share positive feelings with those we are synchronizing with. 

It is not yet an exact science, but it may be attributed to the release of endorphins, which results from coordinating movement with others. In other words, making music causes our brains to create warm, positive feelings

Music is scientifically proven to better your Well-being

A lot of people believe that music can lift the spirits. But science has now shown it has a physical effect on our bodies, too. As we listen, music works on the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for controlling blood pressure and heartbeat, as well as the limbic system, which is responsible for feelings and emotions. A review of 23 studies by Bradt and Dileo (in 2009) involving almost 1,500 people found music helped to reduce blood pressure, heart rate and anxiety in heart disease patients.

Music can benefit psychological well-being, too. Research from the University of Missouri published in The Journal Of Positive Psychology found for the first time, that upbeat music can have a very positive effect on our well-being.
